Equipping Leaders in Hard Places to Transform Their Communities with the Gospel
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Approximately 90% of Christian pastors around the world lack formal theological training. The vast majority of these pastors and leaders lack access to the training they need due to income inequality, remote geographic locations, limited educational background, or other obstacles. Without a solid foundation in the Word of God, churches become anemic, communities remain mired in poverty and suffering, the lost remain unreached, and false teachings spread unchecked. These leaders are already strategically located in places of great need, and we have a tremendous opportunity to equip and empower them to transform their own communities with the Gospel. Our mission is to provide high-quality, practical biblical training to these pastors and leaders.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Foundations (GLOMOS)
A foundational theological education for pastors and ministry leaders serving in hard places. This year-long program is taught in a modular format on location in the various regions we serve. Over 90% of our faculty members are non-Western, which means most come from the cultures in which they teach and are able to contextualize the material very effectively for their students. The Foundations program covers the following: Old Testament, New Testament, Christ and the Biblical Story, Doctrines, Biblical Interpretation, Teaching & Preaching, Leadership, Healthy Church, and Community Transformation.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Global Action aims to provide life-changing biblical leadership training to the 90% of pastors who lack access to the education they need. Our goal is to equip leaders and strengthen churches in strategic locations around the world, so that these leaders can transform their communities.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We provide a one-year intensive program that provides pastors and leaders with a Biblical foundation for effective ministry—and how to provide gospel-centered leadership that transforms their communities. They are given an intensive survey of the Bible from Genesis to Revelation, with a strong emphasis on the gospel and the skills they need to engage in effective evangelism, teaching, discipleship and community transformation. We emphasize the practical skills leaders need to apply Scripture to their life and ministry, following a biblical model for godly leadership in the church—which is often very countercultural! Our modular format allows students to continue serving in their churches throughout the duration of their studies. We use qualified international faculty to teach in our program. These faculty members are respected & credentialed pastors, leaders, and academics, the majority of whom hold advanced degrees. We focus on community-oriented, concentrated learning experiences which encourage group involvement and relationship-building.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We have excellent teams of national leaders in each of our four regions of operation (Central America/Caribbean, South Asia, Eastern Europe, and Sub-Saharan Africa). These leaders have developed extensive networks with local churches, theological institutions, and ministry workers to facilitate our work and help us identify areas of greatest need. Our 150+ international faculty members are seasoned ministry leaders with solid educational backgrounds and a depth of practical experience as pastors, leaders, and professors. 93% of these faculty members are nationals, meaning that they are especially well-equipped to contextualize our training to their particular cultural context. Our biblical training program, called Foundations (or GLOMOS - Global Modular Studies) has been translated into 7 world languages, allowing us to teach in our students' heart languages. Several more translation projects are currently underway so that we can expand our reach.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have developed a high-quality modular training program which allows us to provide life-changing biblical leadership training to active ministry leaders who would otherwise lack access to training. In each country where we facilitate training and community projects, we've seen increased levels of local participation in the area of financial support. For example, local churches have seen the impact and importance of our training and now sponsor staff members, host trainings, provide financial support, etc. To date, we have provided biblical training to over 13,500 pastors and ministry leaders. Each leader we train directly impacts an average of 75 people within their first year after training, for a total number of approximately 1,012,500+ people impacted each year by our graduates.
