River's Promise seeks to give access to education to orphans & vulnerable children in Rwanda through our child sponsorship program and the construction of our own Legacy Christian Academy school campus.

Our programs

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Legacy Christian Academy - Rwanda

Legacy Christian Academy is a K-12 school built by River's Promise in one of the poorest regions of Rwanda. The goal is to provide top-notch, Christian based education to children who would otherwise have no access to attend school and achieve an education. As of 2022, 100% of the children attending River's Promise Legacy Academy are sponsored to attend by River's Promise and our donors.

Population(s) Served

Through our Child Sponsorship program we provide orphans & vulnerable children who are engulfed in extreme poverty with access to education by providing school fees, scholastic materials, health insurance, and basic life amenities.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

With the construction and build-out of River's Promise Legacy Christian Academy we will be able to provide quality education for almost 1200 orphans and vulnerable children in Rwanda who otherwise would not have access to education.

We send children to variety of school via our child sponsorship program and will be able to bring many of those children into our own Legacy Christian Academy school once construction is completed.

We have a solid team of Rwandan national working with us as well as great cooperation with local & national Rwandan government officials. Coupled with our committed USA donor base we are marching quickly towards our goals.

Our child sponsorship program began in 2010 and the dream of Legacy Christian Academy began in 2017. We built our 1st Kindergarten classroom in 2019 and are now in Phase 1 construction of our K-6 campus as of September 2022.

Data
  • We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
  • We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
  • We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
Policies and processes
  • We have community representation at the board level, either on the board itself or through a community advisory board.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
