Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
The Cold Case Project: Trade Vengeance for Justice!
A canvass of Colorado law enforcement agencies that built a database of 1,300 unsolved murders in this state occurring from 1970 through 2006. No agency private or public had this information all in one place. "The Cold Case Project: Trade Vengeance for Justice!" A series of Forums in seven Colorado locations explaining the threat to public safety posed by these unresolved homicides: Killers walking among us, murderers living in our neighborhoods. Annual Meeting of Members. Each year we bring together families and friends of the victims, law enforcement, legislators and the media to learn from each other in workshops, a luncheon and a forum. We examine what has been done and what is being done to address the public emergency that is posed by unsolved murders. We urge legislative action to form a state-level, state-funded cold case team at the Colorado Bureau of Investigation to address these unsolved murders.
Find, Support & Empower
This is a grass-roots organization that serves the family & friends of victims of unsolved murders with a Colorado connection. These folks were previously dubbed "the forgotten victims." We provide a website where all 1,528 victims can be viewed. Member-volunteers call and write family members to listen to their experiences and inform them of our services. FOHVAMP arranges meetings between co-victims and law enforcement through both group meetings and as individuals. FOHVAMP’s Annual Meetings strive to educate both family members and law enforcement regarding these unsolved murders. Family members from across our nation make their way to Colorado in October to attend. We publish a newsletter for members and email stories of cold cases solved to those with email addresses. Each co-victim receives a remembrance card on the anniversary of their loved one’s murder. We advocate for these co-victims at the state and local levels.
