Music Therapy Grants

MTAF increases access to music therapy by providing therapy grants to Texans - especially those with cognitive disabilities, physical disabilities, and mental health needs, as well as facilities that serve these individuals. Over 285,000 people with disabilities and mental illness are currently waiting for Medicaid waiver services, according to Texas Health and Human Services. Millions more would benefit from therapy but do not qualify for those specific waiver programs.

MTAF was established to assist individuals who find themselves in funding gaps - whether uninsured, underinsured, or insured yet unable to fund out of pocket costs for music therapy. MTAF will match beneficiaries to board-certified music therapists in their communities and will award need-based grants to fund approximately 6 months of therapy.
