What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

According to the Rape, Abuse, and Incest National Network, the most recent statistics in America regarding sexual abuse are staggering: • 44% of victims are under age 18 • 80% are under age 30 • Every 2 minutes, another American is sexually assaulted • There is an average of 267,868 victims (age 12 or older) of sexual assault each year • Over 60 million adult Americans have been sexually abused as children Many of these young children, and teenagers often wonder why and have faith based questions which need to be addressed as they try to deal with the issue of sexual abuse. Often times, churches, Christian counselors and case managers lack the faith based resources to adequately explain the issue of sexual abuse in a kid friendly manner. Dr. Tina Medina, a Christian Counselor and ordained minister saw the need years ago for such material and has recently completed the faith based Overcoming Sexual Abuse (OSA) Book Series for an intergenerational audience.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

We want to reach the sexually assaulted survivors and let them know that there is a faith-based healing method with the Bible as a guide.

Goals: TV Show - To reach an international audience via Preach the Word Worldwide TV. We have the opportunity to gain free airtime for 26 shows and only need help with production and post production. Television is the perfect way to reach people in the privacy of their homes.

Community Outreach - Preach and teach the Biblical teachings of how to gain inner healing and seven-fold restoration in Jesus name.

One on One Counseling - People need an outlet once they are ready to disclose their pain and shame. We would love to gain sponsors or grants that would allow us to minster to those who need faith-based counseling.

We will use tv as a resource to reach millions because free air time was given to the organization.

We are highly capable of producing a solid tv show on the subject and we have plenty of material as well. However, we need the financial resources for the production and post-production of the tv show to help us make our goals happen.

We have produced the tv shows on paper and just need money for television production and post production.

How we listen

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Seeking feedback from people served makes programs more responsive and effective. Here’s how this organization is listening.

done We demonstrated a willingness to learn more by reviewing resources about feedback practice.
done We shared information about our current feedback practices.
  • Who are the people you serve with your mission?

To create positive television programming and community programming for sexual abuse victims to gain affordable tools and techniques to consider beginning the sexual abuse recovery process. Material is presented in a traditional, holistic, case management, and faith-based manner to acknowledge all aspects of sexual abuse in the life of a survivor. We are dedicated to serving all people who need this material as we know the following: Some survivors will never seek help. Some survivors will never trust anyone to tell their story. Some survivors may not be able to afford the services. Some survivors feel as though they are voiceless. We want to help them gain a voice and a sense of self worth, self esteem, and value.

  • How is your organization using feedback from the people you serve?

To strengthen relationships with the people we serve

  • What significant change resulted from feedback?

We are now adding the words traditional and holistic to our messaging because we use these methods as well.

  • Which of the following feedback practices does your organization routinely carry out?

We look for patterns in feedback based on demographics (e.g., race, age, gender, etc.)

  • What challenges does the organization face when collecting feedback?

We don't have any major challenges to collecting feedback

Policies and processes
  • We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
