Mission

Level creates 100% free educational content for people in prison. Level's guides focus on high school equivalency, career training and personal enrichment, such as art and writing. Level’s guides are printed on low cost standard printers and are sent through the mail directly to incarcerated individuals, including those in maximum security and solitary confinement. With more than 2 million people incarcerated in the United States, Level’s approach brings a scalable, openly distributed, low barrier, data driven solution to a population with no access to the internet or traditional educational technology.

Free Education and Job Training for People In Prison

Level's big audacious goal is to offer every person in prison in America the opportunity to pursue educational and job training advancement while incarcerated in order to improve their economic outcomes when released. To accomplish this goal, Level creates and distributes free educational and job training content to people in prison across the country. Level has served incarcerated people at 575 different federal, state and county prisons in 44 states. Level's program can reach people at facilities without any educational programming as well as people in maximum security and solitary confinement.

The expected outcomes of Level's program are increased employment and income after release and a reduction in recidivism. Level tracks our impact by creating an ongoing, direct relationship with incarcerated learners that continues as they move between facilities and even after they are released.
