Tech Training -- Video Editing

The Delta Project is providing young men in juvenile detention or returning on probation with personal computers and training to learn video editing and become independent contractors. There is an increasing demand for Zoom meetings to be edited into usable multimedia online content. By partnering with EuzenConnect (a local L3C focused on creating freelance and gig job opportunities to underserved communities) we are creating a tech training experience and connection to clients in the area who need small projects completed.

Funding will allow us to loan laptops and technology to 20 young men inside or outside of the detention center, provide them with dedicated training, and space to work once they leave detention and return to the community.

Our goal, in line with the mission of The Delta Project, is to help young men in detention or on probation “become something they don’t yet see” by providing mentorship, job training, coaching and opportunities to engage with the Grand Rapids community in meaningful ways.

We recognize that violence is a health crisis. By creating meaningful opportunities for young men faced with trauma, we are giving them agency and a way to overcome the barriers in their lives that can often lead to violent behavior.
