The Donkeys of the Heart
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Where we are now, operations are limited. We need to get a property of 6 acres minimum. That will allow to start the adaptive riding program and the driving program. We want to implement a program "Donkeys Rescued Healing ". It is based on a tremendous program that exists in UK since 1982. They work with abused donkeys; their participants lost everything because of drug and alcohol.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Equine Assisted Services with Donkeys
Equine (Donkeys) Facilitated Psychotherapy promotes personal exploration and behaviors.
The sessions are conducted by a mental health professional, an ESMHL (Equine Mental Health Specialist and Learning) certified by Professional Association of Therapeutic Horsemanship International (PATH).
Rather than providing instruction on particular donkeysmanship skills, EFP focuses on client’s needs and includes specific treatment goals facilitated by the mental health professional. We use guided, ground-based activities to focus on mental, emotional, and mental health.
Equine (Donkey) Assisted Learning is an experiential approach using donkeys as co-facilitators. Participants actively engage in and reflect upon hands-on activities with donkeys. EAL provides opportunities to learn a variety of life skills and to develop self-confidence and self-esteem. Social and emotional skills are developed through participation in purposeful activities. The sessions are conducted by an ESMHL.

We are currently working with different populations, all ages with amazing results.

We are committed to develop more all our education curriculum.
When we get the property, we want to use solar energy, using grey water for our garden (plants endogenous of AZ).
Our ethic chart is strong : non discrimination, helping disadvantaged populations, helping people affected by mental health by having low fees, integrity and equity are the base of our work.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
A strong small team dedicated to the cause. They are all skilled in their field and their determination is intact.
The founder and president is participating in numerous training to get more certifications.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We are having enough clients for one certified Equine Specialist Mental Health and Learning.
