In order to influence youth towards positive, healthy lifestyle choices and prevent substance abuse, organizations must meet young people where they consume their media. The era of single channel, top-down messaging to reach young people is over, due to the rise of smartphones, social media and mobile internet. With the explosion of various social channels and outlets, young people now have more options than ever to decide where they get their information from.

Using the youth positive development theory to create an evidence-based program framework, this program has the goal to train up to 40 youths in video blogging (vlogging) and key life skills so they can begin posting videos that promote positive career ambitions and lifestyles. The program’s goal is to prevent substance abuse among high-risk youth and have them influence their peers to make positive choices as well.

Population(s) Served
At-risk youth

HelplineSOS is a nonprofit technology platform that assists clinics to rapidly respond to callers needing non-emergency help and information related to coronavirus.

How it works is that people calling into a busy clinic about coronavirus get forwarded to the HelplineSOS automated system which prompts the caller to use their keypad to answer questions related to age, symptoms and if they have underlying health conditions. Answers are populated into a spreadsheet in real time for clinic staff and trained volunteers to make callbacks and provide information, reassurance and routing to services.
