What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

In honor of Oklahoma’s native son, the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine serves as Padre Rother's final resting place as he is entombed in the altar in our chapel where we hold daily Mass at 12:15 p.m. The Shrine includes a 2,000-seat church and is the largest Catholic church in Oklahoma. The new facilities serve the growing Hispanic community. a Masses at Sacred Heart, Saint James the Greater and Little Flower were overflowing. Masses at the Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine will help alleviate this overcrowding and will be celebrated in both English and Spanish. Located near the crossroads of America, just south of l-40 and I-35, the shrine will serve as a strong, visible and welcoming presence of the Catholic Church in Oklahoma.

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine

The Blessed Stanley Rother Shrine opened in February 2022 and has already had over 90,000 visitors take pilgrimage and worship the life and legacy of Father Rother. The shrine, located at 700 S.E. 89th Street in Oklahoma City, has a special connection to the Hispanic community in Oklahoma, as Blessed Stanley served as a missionary in Guatemala for 13 years before he was murdered in 1981.
The shrine has impacted the Hispanic community in Oklahoma in several ways, such as:
• Providing a worship place for two of the city’s growing Hispanic parishes, which were significantly overcrowded before the shrine was built.
• Offering a cultural and spiritual bridge between the local Hispanic Catholics and their Guatemalan brothers and sisters, who share a devotion to Blessed Stanley and his mission.
• Celebrating the diversity and richness of the Hispanic Catholic tradition, with Masses and events in Spanish, art and architecture inspired by the Spanish mission style, and a museum that showcases B

Goals & Strategy

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

We need to integrate our ministry efforts for the rapidly growing Hispanic population and other cultural groups.
We need to strengthen education and formation at all levels.
We need to address the unique needs of the young.
We must build a culture of conversion and discipleship.
Strengthen Marriages and Family Life.

We need to move from maintenance to mission focusing on strengthening marriages and families and receive more guidance from the Catholic Church on being better parents and raising holy children.

• Celebrating the diversity and richness of the Hispanic Catholic tradition, with Masses and events in Spanish, art and architecture inspired by the Spanish mission style, and a museum that showcases Blessed Stanley’s ministry among the indigenous people of Guatemala. The museum is free and open to the public and completely bilingual. Designed by Exhibit Concepts (the same firm who designed the OKC bombing memorial museum), the museum walks you through the life of Father Rother from his early childhood in Okarche, Oklahoma to his death in Santiago Atitlan.
• Inspiring the Hispanic community to follow Blessed Stanley’s example of faith, service, and courage, especially in times of hardship and persecution.

To date, having only been open to the public since February 2023 we have welcomed over 70,000 visitors into our museum, shrine and gift shop. 164 groups have booked pilgrimages and over 7,000 pilgrims have signed our book and requested a personal prayer.

Data
  • We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.
  • We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
  • We have long-term strategic plans and measurable goals for creating a culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
