What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Trap Neuter Return

Big Bend Pets is a non-profit organization dedicated to working with members of our communities to humanely curtail the growth of the community cat population in our region.
We are committed to implementing long-term humane solutions to significantly reduce the population of unaltered, free-roaming, and/or abandoned domestic cats in our area, commonly known as community cats. We are committed to educating the community about community cats and the characteristics and management of the colonies where they live.
Big Bend Pets uses a humane protocol called Trap-Neuter-Return, popularly known as “TNR.” The TNR program is an animal control program designed to protect public health, reduce the incidence and need for shelter euthanasia, preserve scarce shelter resources, and greatly diminish our community cat crisis. Big Bend Pets will partner with municipalities to enhance ordinances to support a TNR program.
