Smile with Heart -USA

SWHF-USA
The SWHF-USA initiative provides outreach through CareFree Dental Days and oral hygiene education. Through a growing network of clinical teams across the country, we present oral hygiene education and care kits to children through schools and community organizations. Our CareFree Dental Days allow us to connect children in need with clinical teams in nearby practices to establish a foundation of proper oral health and continuity of care.

Through our program to educate and treat pregnant women, who are more prone to gingivitis, cavities, and periodontal and oral health diseases which can impact premature delivery and birth weight, we are helping ensure healthier lives for moms and children from their very start and first smiles.

Childhood dental disease knows no economic, social, or national boundaries. With tooth decay topping the list as the most common chronic childhood illness in the world, our mission to provide opportunities for dental education and service to disadvantaged children extends into international areas of need through our SWHF-Global program.

Working with local organizations and established partners, we reach children and their families with little or no dental access in countries such as Jamaica and Peru. Through sponsored mission trips, SWHF generates opportunities for volunteer clinician teams to provide life-changing oral health care and education. Our Global initiative also assists in establishing and improving clinics where volunteer dentists care for local patients and mentor local clinicians to better serve their communities with sustainable care.

In order to meet the future dental needs of the children of the world, SWHF is investing today in the education of tomorrow’s oral health care leaders and clinician teams.

The SWHF-Scholarship program is designed to ensure an adequate supply of future dental clinicians. Scholarships are available for students pursuing careers as dentists, hygienists, certified dental assistants, and expanded function dental assistants. The number and amount of scholarships vary by funder. The criteria for these scholarships include financial need, leadership, community service, and scholastic achievement.

As we work towards creating better, healthier lives for children, we recognize that the evolution of the world around us can, at times, be unpredictable and life-changing. In the midst of that change, our Relief & Rebuild Fund provides the caring support to weather events and right the human experience back on the track of health and happiness.

Relief & Rebuild is more than just financial support to those in need during crises such as economic and natural disasters. It also extends funding to nurture progress on issues, such as contaminated water, that impact our mission of providing dental care and education to children. Relief & Rebuild enables us to give back in support of the communities across our current service area. When this monetary support meets caring action, barriers to success are reduced which enables focus back on the vision of proper oral health care for all children.
