What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

When entering sobriety, few are financially well off. Rock bottom has been demoralizing and financially draining. Many LGBTQ people are alone and have no where to go. As you may know sobriety is based on no drinking or mood altering substances. But there is much more. Physical, emotional, spiritual, behavioral and sexual sobriety is essential to maintain sobriety. The Brock Haney With Love Fund helps support those in the LGBTQ community in South Florida to get a leg up in their sobriety efforts by providing a little support to attend LGBTQ sober fellowship events and gatherings, Florida Round Up, obtain medication, get into a halfway house or clothing and food. The support is one time and is distributed directly to the provider never the individual. Getting sober is tough. Trying to get sober without the basic necessities is almost impossible. Thousands in our LGBTQ community die of addiction and die alone because of their sexuality. You can make a difference.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

LGBTQ support organizations for LGBTQ sobriety efforts are far and few between. Our community still struggles for equal rights and is plagued by bullying and not being accepted. Hate crimes and suicide are real issues and concerns. Getting or staying sober without addressing issues.
Our goals are to provide safe opportunities for members of our LGBTQ+ community to get sober while beginning the journey of self acceptance and love. It can be a long and complicated process.

We need to share that the LGBTQ recovery community is in need and people are dying; it doesn't have to be that way. We have talented Directors that have the time, the energy, the commitment and the to raise money to fund our endeavors. It is a life time's effort. A few of the Director's direct involvement in recovery allows us to focus where the need is greatest.
1. An increased presence on Social Media.
2. Hold community events in Palm Beach, Broward and Dade Counties.
3. Speaking engagements at AddictionTreatment centers.
4. Involvement with Inspire Treatment (LGBTQ+ Recovery Center in Palm Beach)
5. Providing all Lambda Clubhouses with literature about our Foundation.
6. Aggressive fundraising events.
7. Partner with Foundations who support our cause.

The Brock Haney With Love Inc is in a good position to realize our goals.

1. Financially, through the help of the Directors, we are actively supporting and networking for benefactors:
A. Nationally
B. Foundations
C. Annual Brock Haney gala fundraiser.

2. Identifying where help is needed is a top priority. The Brock Haney With Love Inc has a clear, constant and visible presence in Lambda North, Lambda South and Lambda Miami. All directors are committed to helping those in need in the LGBTQ recovery communities.

3. Web page and Facebook presence.

The Brock Haney Fund was originally established in Lambda North following the death of Brock Haney. Over the years the fund has distributed over $20,000 to 100's of LGBTQ people in recovery for a variety of reasons to help in their sobriety efforts. South Florida is a recovery destination, and we have helped people from all over the United States. In January of 2020 the Brock Haney Fund was moved from Lambda North, and the Brock Haney With Love Inc was established. Our goals remain the same, but with the Haney Family we decided to expand our coverage to include all of South Florida, specifically those LGBTQ members of Lambda North, Lambda South and Lambda Miami.

How we listen

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Seeking feedback from people served makes programs more responsive and effective. Here’s how this organization is listening.

done We shared information about our current feedback practices.
  • Who are the people you serve with your mission?

We serve the recovery community in Philadelphia, PA and South Florida. Many people travel to South Florida for Recovery Assistance from across the United States, so technically we serve on a National Basis within our geographic regions of interest.

  • How is your organization collecting feedback from the people you serve?

    One on one conversation.,

  • What significant change resulted from feedback?

One change was the expansion of our Social Media presence. Until six months ago we maintained a web page and a Facebook page. It was brought to our attention that many younger people prefer to use Instagram. We took that information and created an Instagram account. A small change, but one that was directly implemented due to feedback.

  • With whom is the organization sharing feedback?

The people we serve, Our board, Our funders,

  • How has asking for feedback from the people you serve changed your relationship?

Our goal is to form strong relationships with the people and organizations we help as well as our donors. Providing an avenue for people to share their ideas and experiences with our Foundation.
