HALO 139
WHAT IS HALO 139
HALO 139 is a pilot program designed to attract new families to our Catholic School community. Using a matrix of internal and external marketing activities, discounted tuition for new families, referral incentives for current families to help attract new students, and robust retention activities, the pilot will attract 139 new students to a total of five schools for the 2021-2022 school year and retain them throughout their elementary education.
WHY HALO 139
Aggressive recruiting is needed to replace graduating students and avoid threats to long-term viability of our Catholic schools. In schools with existing capacity, there is little additional operational cost for the school to add new students.
The Diocese of Dallas Catholic Schools Office (CSO) research has shown that when a family tries one of our schools and stays for two years, they rarely leave – often regardless of the tuition costs. In addition, the market disruption caused by COVID-19 shifted how families view their education choices and they are open to new alternatives. This pilot is designed to capitalize on that momentum.
HOW WILL HALO 139 WORK
New families will be offered a discount equal to 50% off tuition for two years, with a payment plan that allows deferment until the second semester. This will remove financial hesitation for families trying Catholic Schools for the first time.
Utilizing donor funds secured through HALO, schools will receive reimbursement for the discounts offered in years one and two, providing much needed funding to the pilot schools for the next two years. When students are retained and pay tuition after the pilot ends, the schools will realize significant increase in revenues. While this program is not specifically intended to serve as tuition assistance for families who face a significant financial obstacle in considering Catholic education, a pool of funding for families in need has also been established for the first two years and beyond.
