Give Work Project

Because of our commitment to providing decent work, eradicating poverty, and promoting gender equality, Pour Les Femmes donated funds for the construction of a new tailoring workshop in Goma, DRCongo. The donation included the purchase of new modern commercial sewing machines and related equipment. Today the workshop not only provides decent work in a safe and secure environment, but it also provides the women and men of Goma with training for a new set of skills and, in so doing, lifts them out of poverty.
To date, over 200 local artisans are trained to sew and embroider allowing these artisans to work for a living wage in a historically war-torn region of a country where the average income is less than $2 per day.
The GiveWork atelier sews the popular GiveWork capsule collection for Pour Les Femmes as well as garments for other brands, connecting the people of Eastern Congo with export opportunities to the rest of the world.
