What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

We are an animal sanctuary. We have 3 main goals: 1)Save equines from bad situations: This means from slaughter and kill pens but also abuse cases and equines that no longer have a viable home and hopefully we intercept before they end up in a slaughter pipeline. 2) We Provide a wonderful - enriching and permanent residence to the animals we rescue for the rest of their life, however long that may be 3) We aim to educate : this means making the best effort to help people understand that a equine is no different than a dog or a cat and should be a companion you take care of for life not till they can not longer be ridden or considered useful by the show / race and work world

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

We have 2 Missions

1) Offer Sanctuary to Equines
- After they are rescued and rehabilitated allow them to live their natural lives on the land in retirement and in safety.

2) Save & Rehome
- We also work to save Equines from slaughter nationally and find them other permanently and loving homes outside of our sanctuary with loving family's and farms.

1) Optimize and Expand Our Sanctuary
- Through Capital Improvement (Replace and Rehab Animals Structures)
- Through Efficacies (Hay Feeders to Reduce Waste)
- Through Good Medical and Supplemental care (Optimize health)

2) Expand National Network
- Haulers and QT facilities to be able to have resources nationally depending on where we rescue
- Build greater following to allow for more opportunities to find willing homes
- Network other sanctuaries who may have space to save animal but not contacts or funding to bail and transport them

3) Partnerships with Community
- Tours
- Events
- School coordinated eucational sessions

We have had strong sucess already towards these goals

However, they are goal that are longer dated and can always be enhanced and made better

We will continue to strive for the best for our rescuses.

Data
  • We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
  • We analyze disaggregated data and root causes of race disparities that impact the organization's programs, portfolios, and the populations served.
  • We disaggregate data to adjust programming goals to keep pace with changing needs of the communities we support.

Policies and processes
  • We have a promotion process that anticipates and mitigates implicit and explicit biases about people of color serving in leadership positions.
  • We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
  • We measure and then disaggregate job satisfaction and retention data by race, function, level, and/or team.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
