Saturday 5-Star Meals
Our Community Table (OCT) currently serves approximately1200-1400+ hot meals every Saturday at ten locations throughout Martin County, Florida. 2014, Greg Waid started this ministry in North Carolina; when his family moved to Florida he restarted it here in April 2020. Since then we have served more than 200,000 meals to the less fortunate and have zero food waste. In fact, we run out of food each week allowing us to be very efficient with the money we receive. With the equipment we have and the vast number of volunteers that help we are able to cook for several thousand on any given day, if need be. Our Community Table is flexible to the needs of the community we serve and adjust delivery station locations as needed.
Our Community Table is completely staffed by a large diverse group of volunteers from all walks of life. There are no paid positions - another reason why OCT is able to optimize its funds.
Bike Give Away
Our Community Table volunteers learned that many children and adults we serve meals to did not have bicycles for recreation and/or transportation. In 2021, OCT held its first drive to acquire bicycles at no or low cost. Those bicycles were then rejuvenated and distributed to those who needed one. The recipient's smiles and gratitude were well worth the scraped knuckles and sore knees that the volunteers got while working on the bikes.
At Christmas 2022, 100 bicycles were purchased and brought to OCT to deliver to those in need. We fulfilled the donors request and the dreams of many by delivering the bikes through a non-profit organization in Palm Beach County and to our underserved families in Martin County.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Currently, we serve approximately 1200-1,400+ balanced meals every Saturday to individuals of all ages who experience hunger. The need for our organization is quite clear. The poverty rate in Martin County is 11.8%. Florida is rated 12th in nation for “food insecurity” with 1 in 7 individuals living in food-insecure homes. In addition, 37.2% of the population in Martin County does not qualify for federally subsidized nutrition and often must rely on charitable food assistance programs such as Our Community Table Palm City for a nutritional meal.
Our Community Table Palm City continues to expand delivery stations to bring hot meals into the neighborhoods every Saturday. By going to our recipients this removes the burden of transportation to go to the food sources. Our volunteers offer the opportunity for prayer at the time or later in prayer circles. This is unique in that it gives our recipients a feeling of love & hope. Our goal is to continue with this mission.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Our vision is to expand the ministry to ensure that no one should have to go without a meal. We have multiplied the ministry to ten stations in Martin County (Stuart – Hobe Sound – Indiantown) to feed the bodies and souls of those who are less fortunate all around us. It’s exciting to see how the Lord is working through our efforts! We continue to search and apply for funding grants to support this mission.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Currently Our Community Table is meeting the goal of decreasing food insecurity in Martin County, Florida by cooking, plating and packing up hot balanced meals every Saturday. We are different from food pantries who also donate food in that we deliver directly to the people in their communities. We will also deliver to a home, if need be. In addition, people are welcome to come for meals to our preparation facility while we are working on Saturday mornings.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Our Community Table started with four delivery stations on April 10,2020 and are now up to ten sites in Martin County. We continuously evaluate if the need is where we are passing out meals or could we serve more elsewhere. We have opened up stations at the request of community leaders who are intimately knowledgeable with the residents whom they have contact with. Our recipients have gotten to know us so well, that they often inform us of where we are needed.
