Programs and results
What we aim to solve
We aim to positively affect the mental health and emotional well-being of patients living with long-term illness or rare disease, along with their care teams.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Warriors in Crisis
This program sends extra, handwritten cards of support when an illness warrior or caregiver is going through an atypical challenging time in their health journey. They can be nominated on our website by a friend or family member (or personally request support). Once the nomination is approved, our volunteers make, write and send card to encourage and uplift the personal struggling. Over and over again we are told how the cards arrived JUST when they were needed most!
Happy Mail Program
We invite illness warriors, caregivers, siblings, and medical professionals to sign up to receive our happy mail! Once registered, a recipient has the chance to randomly receive our greeting cards throughout the year! At least 5 times per year, we print greeting cards featuring the artwork of an illness warrior and signed by 5 fellow warriors that we send out to those in our database. The number of cards printed and sent depends on the funding we have raised thanks to our sponsors. Additionally, we send 10% of our cards internationally, spreading hope and cheer around the globe!
Warrior Card Swap
The Warrior Card Swap is a monthly, global swap for illness warriors only! It runs every month throughout the year. It is open only to those living with long-term illness, rare disease, disability and those undiagnosed. Participants register once and then have the option to participate at the beginning of each month when their health allows them to. Participants can choose to send domestically or internationally, to send physical mail or digital mail, and to "make a friend/pen pal" or to simply brighten a fellow warrior's day! Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our goal is to send 100,000 cards filled with messages of love and cheer to inspire hope and perseverance in chronic and rare patients.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
There is something magical about a card showing up unexpectedly in a patient or caregiver's mailbox to remind them that they are seen, heard, and loved.
Living with an illness takes a toll on the mental health and emotion well-being of not just the patient, but their caregiver, siblings, and medical team.
We send printed cards throughout the year to encourage and uplift these illness warriors.
