What we aim to solve
MIA’S MIRACLES PROVIDES SMALL BLESSINGS WITH LARGE IMPACTS, BRINGING SMILES AND POSITIVITY TO CHILDREN AND FAMILIES FACING CHALLENGING CIRCUMSTANCES.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Mia's Serenity Space for Staff
The biggest union of registered nurses in the U.S. — National Nurses United — describes nurse burnout as “physical, mental and emotional exhaustion.” Nurse burnout leads to job dissatisfaction and affects patient outcomes.
MASmedicalstaffing.org reports that when nurses get overwhelmed, they need effective emergency coping strategies. Examples include taking a break by themselves somewhere quiet and stopping to take a couple of deep breaths.
HOW THE FOUNDATION HELPS
Mia’s Miracles hopes to provide a moment of reprieve for medical staff during family crises at hospitals. These heroes can feel overwhelmed, exhausted and stressed while continuously working on the frontline. Mia’s Serenity Space for Staff will be filled with joy, positivity and relaxation.
IMPACT
According to the National Institute of Health, combining and integrating “person-focused” strategies (i.e., taking care of oneself) with “organization-focused” strategies (i.e., taking the time to review your current job situation) are designed to build nurses’ abilities to manage stress at the individual level.
The impact of these strategies together will allow nurses to destress, resulting in a happier disposition which can lead to a decrease in errors and better care for patients!
Mia's Blessings
The challenges families face surrounding an ailing child is often exacerbated by the stress of financial burdens.
HOW THE FOUNDATION HELPS
As bills continue to rise many families struggle to pay for items not covered by insurance such as gas, rent, utilities, transportation etc. Mia’s Blessings works to provide grants of financial assistance to families going through crises at Nicklaus Children’s Hospital.
IMPACT
Once the financial needs of vulnerable families are met, they won’t have to stress about uninsured expenses. These families will have money for food, transportation for their family, and payment towards their mortgage or rent, to name a few. Instead of worrying about immediate financial hardships, they can focus their attention on the health and well-being of their family.
