What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Homes for Heroes

Homes for Heroes is a flagship program within Veterans of Armenia, dedicated to the well-being of disabled and injured veterans. Our mission is clear: to adapt homes to meet the unique needs of each veteran, allowing them to maintain their independence and freedom of movement. These home modifications encompass vital bathroom adjustments, the installation of ramps, widening doorways, and transforming flooring, among other essential changes.

With 12 homes successfully retrofitted and 4 more scheduled for completion in 2024, our program is leaving a lasting impact on the lives of our nation's heroes.

We firmly believe that every veteran deserves a safe and accessible home. However, there are still countless veterans in need of our assistance. Their homes are often in dire condition, and they continue to reach out to us for support. Your generous contribution can help us continue these much-needed renovations, ensuring that our veterans can live with dignity and independence.

Veterans

Veterans of Armenia collaborates with APAGA Center, a beacon of mental health care for veterans over 30 years. Post-war, APAGA's therapists, trained in PTSD, offer crucial home therapy across Armenia. Veterans get a minimum of five sessions, with more as needed. Impactful, yet many families await help. Your donations enable continued mental care for our heroes. Support us.

Population(s) Served

At Veterans of Armenia, our dedication to supporting our nation's heroes extends beyond their years of service. In collaboration with the American University of Armenia, we proudly offer a scholarship program designed to assist veteran students in pursuing higher education.
Our scholarship program reflects our strong commitment to providing opportunities for veterans to continue their service to their country and communities. By relieving the financial burden of education, we enable these veterans to focus on their studies without the added stress of financial constraints.
However, we cannot achieve this mission alone. The success of our program relies on the generosity of our donors, allowing veterans to access these educational opportunities. Your support for our scholarship program can make a profound impact on the lives of veteran students and serve as a tribute to their sacrifices for our country. Join us in our mission to empower and support our nation's heroes."

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Certainly, here's the revised text that incorporates your additional points:

In the midst of the 2020 war, a collective of Los Angeles diasporans, compelled by the crisis, formed Veterans of Armenia, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, to address the urgent needs of war-impacted families and veterans. This effort blossomed into a dedicated mission to foster global involvement and support for Armenia, providing crucial assistance that surpassed our initial expectations.

Our deepened commitment led us on numerous journeys to Armenia, revealing the stark realities faced by wounded and amputee veterans. We responded by establishing solid partnerships with medical facilities and support organizations to facilitate comprehensive care and assist veterans' reintegration into society.

Trust and transparency have been fundamental in cultivating our relationship with the Armenian Diaspora, a dedication that was honored with the Platinum Seal of Transparency in 2021.

Over the years, our reach expanded significantly. In 2023, our initiatives extended to offering humanitarian aid to numerous border villages, as well as housing hundreds of displaced families from Artsakh. Through a variety of charitable programs, we have provided state-of-the-art medical technology, built a prosthetic center, adapted housing for disabled veterans, and delivered psychological and educational support.

Embracing our motto, "No soldier left behind," we have ensured that 100% of community donations directly benefit veterans and soldiers, with all administrative costs shouldered by our members. Our efforts are a testament to our pillars: preemptive measures to reinforce our motherland, post-war rehabilitation, and unwavering support for those who served.

We extend our deepest thanks to our supporters and invite the community to stand with us as we continue to unite Armenians, inspire hope, and build a resilient and brighter future for Armenia and its heroes.

Policies and processes
  • We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
