Mission

TerraPraxis is a nonprofit climate solution accelerator for neglected areas of the climate challenge, particularly the difficult-to-decarbonize sectors of coal, industrial heat, and heavy transport. Our mission is to innovate, design, and accelerate scalable, equitable solutions for neglected areas of the decarbonization challenge. We envision global access to affordable, reliable, emission-free energy that increases human prosperity and avoids catastrophic risks to people and our planet.

TerraPraxis Repower: Decarbonizing Coal Plants

TerraPraxis is leading the single largest carbon reduction opportunity on the planet. Our global consortium is developing a fast, low-cost, and repeatable system to decarbonize the world’s 2,400 coal-fired power plants with emissions-free heat sources by 2050. Once implemented, replacing coal burners in coal-fired power plants with emission-free heat sources would result in the elimination of 40% of emissions from energy or around 15 billion tonnes of CO2 from the planet.

Designing a system to deliver clean synthetic fuels and hydrogen to replace oil and gas in the difficult-to-electrify sectors of shipping, aviation, and heavy industry at the costs, speed, and scale necessary to outcompete fossil fuels within 10 years. TerraPraxis is revolutionalizing a solution for how modern shipyard manufacturing and floating power plants on ships could dramatically increase the global energy supply, without requiring massive amounts of land.
