What we aim to solve
We have 3 causes and 1 mission. Our mission is to serve the needs of children in whatever situation they find themselves. The problem that we are focusing on is the need in our society to strengthen and serve families. Through our residential homes we strive to serve children who are in need of a home due to the parents' inability or unwillingness to provide for their children. Through our adoptive services, we aim to put families together by providing Christian families for children who have been given up by their birth mother due to unplanned or unwanted pregnancies or other circumstances. Through our single parent program, we endeavor to keep families together by providing housing, utilities and basic needs so that the family can remain intact while the parent improves their financial situation through education and employment.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The Mission of the New Mexico Christian Children's Home, in partnership with family, church, and community, is to transform each child we serve into a Christian champion who is a respected, responsible citizen through quality Residential, Adoptive, and Single Parent Homes.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Residential Services: We provide cottages with loving and trained houseparents to provide a family like atmosphere for children who, for whatever reason, are not able to live with their family. Our houseparents are overseen by a Residential Director who ensures the health, safety and well-being of the child and provides the necessary training and equipping of our staff. Adoptive Services: We have a licensed adoption agency that serves all of New Mexico and partners with other agencies in nearby states to match birth mothers with adoptive families. Our Director is licensed and trained to provide these services. Single Parent Homes: Our strategy is provide quality housing, utilities and other basic needs for single parent families to allow them the opportunity for a fresh start and to improve their education and employment options. We also provide parent training and spiritual guidance to address all of their needs. Our Single Parent Director and our Campus Minister work with the single parents to provide them the training and guidance they need.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Residential: We provide our children with a large comfortable homes to live in. We have a grocery room that is stocked for their needs. We have a gym and playground on our campus that provides them recreational opportunities. Our children are taught the value of work, family time (such as meals, etc.) education, and spiritual training by attending a local church. We provide staff to ensure they have the help they need with their health, education and spiritual needs. Adoptive Services: We provide an office on our residential campus for our Adoptive Services Director and staff and an office on the campus of Eastern New Mexico University for pregnancy counseling. Our adoptive parents are provided the training and resources they need to prepare for this change in their lives. Single Parent Homes: Our single parents are provided housing, utilities, internet, access to our campus grocery room and clothing room to meet their basic needs. They are provided training to improve their parenting skills and spiritual guidance from a campus minister. The children in the single parent program are included in many of the services offered in our residential program as well.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have 8 cottages for our residential homes. We completed construction on a new cottage in 2019 to replace an old cottage. We completed a renovation on our main campus playground in May 2020. We began our Single Parent program in 1983 with a few apartments on our main campus. A few years ago, a small apartment complex of six were donated to us in the town of Portales (about 7 miles from our main campus). This increased our capacity to 10 apartments for single parent families. In 2015, we purchased 7 acres in Portales to build "Hope Haven" a 15 duplex community for single parents. We built as we raised the money and in July 2018, we completed the construction of Hope Haven giving us 15 duplexes and a home for our campus minister. We now have capacity for 40 single parent families and we remain full with a waiting list. We accomplished this without government funds as we rely on churches and individuals for our support. The future is bright at the New Mexico Christian Children's Home. We currently have 45 children in our residential care and 80 children and 40 single parents in our single parent program.
Our next step is to continue to improve the quality and services that we offer.
