What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Prevention Services
The Humane Society of Southern Arizona provides prevention services in the form of a low-cost spay and neuter clinic, public vaccination clinics, a Trap Neuter Return program for feral cats and more. HSSA performs more than 8,000 spay/neuter procedures per year and provides more than 10,000 vaccinations.
Shelter & Placement Services
We take pride in our efforts to ensure that each pet in our care finds the perfect Forever Home. We practice the 11 tenets of being a no-kill shelter and currently have a 97% annual live release rate.
Education Services
Our Humane Education and Outreach Program includes free school-based classroom presentations, youth-oriented community service projects, a kids club, teen internships, weekend workshops, summer camps, special events for children, and collaborations with partners including the University of Arizona and the Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum. We also have a Pet VIP therapy/comfort dog program and our sponsor for the regional Anti-Cruelty Task Force.
