aka VO   |   Sacramento, CA   |  http://www.veganoutreach.org

Mission

Vegan Outreach (veganoutreach.org) is a 501c3 nonprofit organization working to end violence towards animals. Vegan Outreach seeks a future when sentient animals are no longer exploited as commodities. Vegan Outreach focuses on reaching the people who are motivated enough to make changes now. We’re laying the groundwork to reach a vegan tipping point. Vegan Outreach’s main focus is promoting our 10 Weeks to Vegan guided challenge, which currently engages hundreds of thousands of people per year. We provide follow-up support for people who go through the 10 Weeks challenge. We provide a vegan mentorship program for individual, one-on-one guidance in over 1,000 cities and dozens of countries. We also provide evidence-based nutrition support from registered dietitians via VeganHealth.org.

Adopt a College

No lasting, fundamental progress will be made towards a compassionate world until animals are no longer seen as food. Although most people express revulsion at the suffering of other animals, they still eat and wear animals and animal products. Instead of treating the symptoms, it is necessary to cure the disease itself: the view that animals are our tools. This view stems directly from society's distance from the animals we use and abuse. This remoteness allows otherwise thoughtful, caring people to believe that animals do not suffer in agriculture or other industries. Experience has shown that many compassionate people change their habits once they receive documented, detailed, and helpful information about the realities behind animal agriculture. VO reaches these people with Why Vegan and Try Vegetarian distribution by local activists at colleges, high schools, walk-a-thons, music concerts, peace and environmental conferences, health food stores, record stores, coffee shops, etc. Vegan Outreach has a new Adopt a College program to promote the distribution of vegetarian information at www.adoptacollege.org

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

Vegan Outreach is a 501c3 nonprofit organization working to end violence towards animals.
//
Vegan Outreach seeks a future when sentient animals are no longer exploited as commodities.

Vegan Outreach focuses on exposing the suffering of farmed animals through the widespread distribution of our booklets promoting plant-based eating.

We distribute our booklets primarily through our Adopt a College program, in which our outreach coordinators and volunteers hand our booklets to about 1 million students at up to 1,000 schools every semester. We also distribute our booklets at concerts, festivals, and other places where we're likely to find potentially receptive individuals.

We have been a part of dramatically raising the awareness and desirability of the vegetarian lifestyle, especially to college-age individuals in the US, Canada, Mexico, and Australia.
What we haven't accomplished yet is expanding our programs (and therefore our message) to Europe and Asia.
