What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

HALO is an acronym that stands for Helping Animals Live On. It is a succinct, four-word definition of what we are here for. It is the reason each and every employee and volunteer puts two feet on the ground. It is a passion that goes beyond just loving dogs and cats. It is a driving force in our lives; to make this community, this world, a safe place for homeless pets.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

HALO strives to increase adoption rates for dogs and cats being cared for in no-kill rescues/organizations; to increase companion pet sterilization rates by ensuring all HALO animals are sterilized prior to adoption, and by educating the public about the need to spay/neuter; and to broaden pet care education throughout Maricopa County via public education programs and marketing initiatives.

HALO operates 3 full scale adoption centers through the metro-Phoenix area, as well as houses cats in 6 PetSmart and Petco stores in order to bring the animals to the families that want to adopt. HALO sterilizes every pet prior to adoption as well as provides up-to-date vaccinations and permanent identification via a microchip to help lost pets reunite with their families.

HALO has a strong staff and volunteer base to help provide the love and care the homeless pets need as well as the ability to provide excellent customer service to our guests.

We have our own shelter located in North Phoenix and care for over 200 animals at any given time. For 25 years, the support of kind people like you has helped HALO Animal Rescue be a community leader in solving pet homelessness. In 2018, HALO found homes for 3,868 pets!
