Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Annual Women's Business & Leadership Conference
A one-day conference with 3 nationally-known keynotes; exhibitors and vendors; awards luncheon
Roundtable Networking Luncheons
A series of 6-8 Roundtables, held at lunch-time, with prominent Kentuckians as speakers; opportunities for meeting other professionals, learning what's happening in the community.
Scholarship Awards
Criteria for scholarship winners include 3.0 or better GPA; demonstrated leadership in community or on campus; essay describing their leadership goals and abilities; and enrollment as freshman, sophomore or junior. Direct contact with all institutions of higher education in Kentucky as well as online information promote the availability of these awards. Winners attend a Reception where they meet their corporate sponsors and Women Leading Kentucky Board members. Checks are sent to the schools where these young women attend.
Martha Layne Collins Leadership Award
This program is inspired by former governor Martha Layne Collins, Kentucky's first and only female governor. Nominations are made from throughout the Commonwealth of women who have contributed to Kentucky's improvement through their leadership, forward thinking and community service. The purpose is to recognize women role models.
Young Professional Ambassadors
Two board members serve as mentors for the Young Professionals' group and assist them in setting up after-work networking events and pursuing their community projects.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Women Leading Kentucky seeks to involve women in networking opportunities in order to build self-esteem, enhance employment and educational goals and create relationships within the business community. We are interested in reaching even more women across the state through our excellent programs, particularly women in more rural areas of the state where access to networking opportunities are limited. We also seek to grow our annual conference to serve as the premier statewide women's networking event.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
In order to reach our goal of expanding our reach, we need to actively engage leaders in communities where we see growth opportunity. This would mean a commitment from an organization to sponsor our luncheon. We have a model in place in Frankfort and will hold a similar luncheon this year in Richmond. We have worked with Kentucky State University and Eastern Kentucky University as well as the Kentucky Innovation Network to put this plan into action. For the conference we need to engage community leaders in order promote the event to business women in their area. We can do this through outreach to University entities as well as Chamber of Commerce organizations.
