What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

The issue is the poor care and treatment of rabbits locally and worldwide. Outside of the known problems that exist in the animal testing industries, there are problems that stem from the local rabbit owners--from poor care to outright rabbit deaths. This is a problem we feel we can address and make great change locally, and someday worldwide.

Our programs

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Rabbit Adoption Program

Happy Rabbit Sanctuary, Inc. takes in rabbits of all ages and sizes. We seldom offer adoptions because our Adoption Program has some strict requirements that include a semi-no-hutch environment, special staple food, and grass hay.

If someone feels that they can provide a better home that we do at the sanctuary we invite them to come visit and we vet them very carefully prior to allowing them to adopt a rabbit. We offer a return policy in case things to not work out for the better.

The rabbits in our care have arrived at the sanctuary or were actually born here. And they are provided better homes than they had prior to and getting a better home is a tall order. So when we do find a good, caring candidate for an adoption its a real special thing. So the program itself is just as special.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

We seek to help rabbits locally and to educate the public on rabbit care and lifestyle. We also advocate for the organizations that strive to help animals worldwide. We feel if we can house one single rabbit we have helped. But we house dozens and hope to someday afford enough and to house as many as may need help.

We are also concentrating on public education and future events locally to encourage better rabbit care and awareness of the causes we support.

Children and adults of all ages have loved rabbits for years and have turned a blind eye to the abuse they suffer. And the pet industries have pushed the wrong types of housing and food for decades. We wish to bring light to these issues.

We have plenty of land to house or rabbits and any future adoptions. We also have the time and drive needed to put these local programs together and to raise awareness.

Strategy for awareness is through social networking and local rabbit shows. We can easily show the public proper food and housing with demonstrations and hands-on care of the sanctuary rabbits at the shows.

Strategy for education is through the same shows, but also through social media and blog posts.

Combined, we can make a difference. People and rabbit owners can be more aware of the details rabbits face in their lives and can make changes for the better. This change can be passed through generations.

Time. Plenty of time to do this outside of our careers. We are marketing and social media pros and can handle getting the word out on our programs. Hopefully, our hard work and dedication will pay off in the form of a successful future for the Happy Rabbit Sanctuary and the generations of rabbit owners to come.

We meet with the public; offer tours; take in adoptions; post social media. All these things have led to successful interactions with the public that brings more awareness. This is measured as success even though it's early in our sanctuary's existence.
