What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Friends of Joseph Floyd Manor
Friends of Joseph Floyd Manor (FoJFM) is a grassroots cause that provides advocacy, resources and support to the residents of Joseph Floyd Manor (JFM). JFM provides public housing for over 155 elderly and disabled residents in downtown Charleston, SC. Through community outreach, awareness, donations, and fundraising, we are able to help improve the lives of residents. We directly involve the residents we serve which allows us to understand and act upon the dynamic needs of this tight-knit community. Monetary and in-kind donations are among the many tools we employ in our mission. Our goal is to advocate with the residents to create safe and healthy housing. We work directly with other non-profits, community partners, government agencies, and donors to quickly address the needs of the residents we serve. Our team is a small group of like-minded people who are driven to tackle the challenges the residents of JFM face with empathy, conviction, and bold and creative ideas.

- We use a vetting process to identify vendors and partners that share our commitment to race equity.
- We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
