The mission of the National Outdoor Learning Alliance is to increase the prevalence of outdoor learning around the nation in both traditional and non-traditional school environments through individualized program development, teacher training, curriculum, accreditation, and ongoing support.

School Programs

The National Outdoor Learning Alliance's School-Based Programs elevate the student experience by combining the benefits of nature and specialized curriculum to deliver fun and engaging learning opportunities that inspire curiosity and foster connection to the wider world. Age-adapted and standards-aligned for grades K-9th, School-Based Programs include: Outdoor Science Program: Nature serves as the ultimate laboratory! Students engage in meaningful experiences that bolster their scientific literacy. Outdoor PE Program: Encourages students to develop physical fitness while also fostering mindfulness and a deeper connection to their bodies, promoting overall health and well-being. Nature Explorers Program: A focus on enhancing Social-Emotional Learning by engaging students in a variety of nature-based activities. Afterschool Nature Club: Students reconnect with nature through direct engagement and weekly themed activities.

Our refugee youth programs are provided in partnership with the International Rescue Committee in Boise, Idaho. They operate with the mission of empowering refugee youth with healing, connection, and belonging through transformative place-based experiences in their new home. These experiences are free for youth ages 4-18 living in transitional housing, and include: Bird watching events Day camps Art and stewardship events

The mission of EverWild Forest School is to connect children to themselves, their communities, and to the natural world through free play, place-based curriculum, and nature immersion. We believe that children grow, learn, and thrive best when immersed in nature. Our outdoor programs support the needs of children by using a whole-child, emergent learning approach. Our goal is to nurture their hearts and minds while strengthening their sense of place, community engagement, and environmental stewardship. EverWild Forest School strives to achieve this mission with programs serving children ages 18 months-12 years in the greater Treasure Valley area. These programs include: Tots & Trees Early Learning Homeschool Enrichment Fall, Winter, Spring and Summer Camps Forest Fridays No-School Nature Days

National Outdoor Learning Alliance's traveling trainer offers personalized training, assessments, and custom curricula to help educators create the best outdoor learning environment for their students. NOLA provides a variety of classes that cater to the preferences of every educator or program lead. With more hands-on activities and less lecture time, educators can make better decisions regarding their outdoor learning program.

The National Outdoor Learning Alliance developed this program specifically for children in Kindergarten to Grade 6 who come from low-income families, ensuring that outdoor learning opportunities are accessible to all. Hosted at EverWild Forest School, this free afterschool program aims to counteract the negative health effects of poverty on youth through increased access to safe green spaces. EverWild Forest School, known for its immersive and impactful learning experiences, employs a holistic, whole-child approach to afterschool care, allowing children to engage with nature, expand their knowledge, and develop crucial life skills. The carefully crafted curriculum will encourage participants to explore the wonders of the outdoors, engage in hands-on activities, and foster a deep appreciation for the environment.
