Center for Christian Studies

Nurturing Christian Faith

Mission

The mission of the Center for Christian Studies (CCS) is to help Christians better understand, practice, and pass on their faith, to train teachers of teachers (2 Tim. 2:2). In addition to mission areas in North America, CCS strives to equip Christians throughout the world, especially in places where educational resources may be limited. We produce accessible content that helps Christians grow in biblical literacy, theological understanding, thoughtful worship, spiritual formation, and ethical living. Each is essential to the renewal of the church.

Video Learning Modules

The Center for Christian Studies produces video series for the specific purpose of helping believers move on, as the New Testament puts it, to adult food (1 Cor. 3:1-2; Heb. 5:12-14) and to maturity of understanding and knowledge (1 Cor. 14:20; Eph. 4:11-16). CCS learning modules are taught by teachers who are true experts on the topics they are presenting. To put it plainly, these teachers have advanced degrees in the relevant field from accredited universities, and they teach or have taught regularly in higher education. CCS teachers are true scholars. The presentations are original and the information the teachers provide is reliable. A Church Subscription provides access to the entire CCS video library for 12 months, which includes access to all the new series as they become available. The goal is to build the best video library for equipping disciples in their understanding of Christian faith and practice. See https://www.christian-studies.org/video-collections.

The Journal of Christian Studies is the flagship journal published by the Center for Christian Studies. The journal’s purpose is to make quality scholarship accessible to the broader church. It is intended to benefit all thoughtful Christians and church leaders, scholars and non-specialists alike. The goal is ultimately missional and the scope international.
The Journal of Christian Studies is issued three times a year, with articles written by scholars who are both experts in their respective fields and active leaders in their churches. Each issue of the journal unpacks a topic or theme that is important to the church’s faith and practice in our current culture. Articles address these themes through biblical, theological, historical, and sociological perspectives, communicating rigorous scholarship in an accessible way.
Subscribe to the Journal of Christian Studies and have three issues per year mailed to you. See https://www.christian-studies.org/jcs

Population(s) Served

CCS offers direct educational opportunities in order to address the need for biblical and theological literacy felt by many church leaders. CCS offers a variety of services designed to meet the needs of Christians at every stage, from seminars and classes directed toward the general education of churches to specialized studies for ministers in need of continuing education.
Live seminars and classes are available for churches or small groups, in person or via Zoom.
Some of these opportunities are directed to the church body at large, answering questions such as: How should we understand and interpret the Bible? How do we take what we learn and apply it to our Christian walk, living in such a way that conforms us to the image of Jesus?
We also have a more specialized program of education and continuing enrichment for local ministers and church leaders. See https://www.christian-studies.org/seminars
