What we aim to solve
Lifting Lucy is dedicated to providing support, resources, and opportunities to women of color in careers supporting food science; particularly the brewing industry. We aim to to help remove barriers of entry to ownership and education by providing mentorship, scholarships, networking events, and opportunities for professional and personal development.

Traveling Sisterhood
Distributing crucial professional development funds for women in the brewing industry and other fermentation career paths. Funding includes scholarships for professional memberships, event and conference attendance grants, and travel assistance; as well as matching funds for employers who invest in staff development.

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our organization aims to promote entrepreneurship, education, leadership development, talent acquisition, economic empowerment, cultural preservation, and equity for all women of color in careers supporting the craft brewing industry.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Entrepreneurship Support: providing training, mentorship, access to funding, and networking opportunities for women of color who are interested in starting their own businesses. We will partner with local businesses and organizations to provide a range of resources, such as business planning assistance, legal and financial advice, and marketing support.
Health and Wellness: providing culturally sensitive health education, mental health counseling, and fitness classes to address the specific health and wellness needs of women of color. We will partner with local health clinics and community organizations to provide these services.
Educational Support: providing academic support and mentorship to young women of color who are pursuing higher education in food science or talents that transfer to careers supporting the brewing industry. We will offer consultations to higher learning institutions and apprenticeships. Lifting Lucy will also provide scholarships for educational programs, certifications, upskilling, and other professional development experiences.
Leadership Development: providing training and support for women of color to become leaders in their communities and organizations. We will offer workshops on public speaking, networking, and leadership skills, as well as mentorships with successful women leaders, and and speaking opportunities at industry events.
Advocacy: educating non-governmental organizations, local government, and philanthropists to advance the rights and interests of women of color in the brewing industry. Our organization also provides resources and support for women of color to become active in their communities and to advocate for themselves and others.
Economic Empowerment: Providing financial literacy training, business administration training, and access to job placement for women of color who are economically disadvantaged. We will partner with local businesses and organizations to provide job training, apprenticeships, and job placement services.
Cultural Preservation: celebrating and promoting the cultural heritage of women of color, and providing a platform for them to share their stories and experiences. We will organize cultural events, such as Brewsters Place, festivals and performances, and provide resources for women of color to learn about their cultural heritage.
Social Justice: educating and addressing systemic issues affecting women of color, such as racism, sexism, and discrimination. We will host community events and campaigns to raise awareness of these issues and provide recommendations including case studies for creating effective change.

Over $8,000 in grants and scholarships for professional development, travel, and networking opportunities.
$20,000+ indirect funding and assistance (given to women of color that utilized our consulting services, investment network service, and business document preparation services)
4,000+ hours of donated consulting, education, and mentorship
Administered scholarships for 8 women of color that support businesses in beer
Increased diversity at major industry events
Dedicated free consulting services to over 15 women
Provided free consulting services to local governmental organizations, local governmental bodies, corporations, philanthropists, investors, and professional associations (educating and advocating re: women of color in the brewing industry.
Identifying soft and transferable skills needed for jobs and careers in the brewing/fermentation industry.
