Operation Lifeline Inc

An America Where Every Veteran Has Safe & Accessible Housing

Saint Johns, FL   |  www.oplifeline.org

Mission

Operation Lifeline Inc. is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit focused on improving housing for low-income veterans. We do this through two programs which are very closely intertwined. First, we renovate the homes of low-income veterans to address health and accessibility issues. Second, we provide training in the construction trades for separating military members and veterans through DoD SkillBridge, and we help them find employment.

Veteran Housing Rehabilitation Program

Operation Lifeline's Veteran Housing Rehabilitation Program addresses National
Objective by exclusively benefiting low- and moderate-income persons. Specifically, this
program falls under the housing subcategory of this national objective by rehabilitating and/or
modifying veterans’ residences to address health and safety issues.

In order to qualify for assistance under the Veteran Housing Rehabilitation Program, applicant
homeowners must be honorably-discharged veterans and meet the low- and moderate-income
persons eligibility criteria established by HUD. Since the intent of the program is to result in
housing occupied by low- and moderate-income persons, veterans must also commit to reside
in the dwelling for at least 10 years as part of their application.

Low-income people

Operation Lifeline's Veteran Training Program provides transitioning service members and
veterans with top-notch, hands-on training in the carpentry and plumbing trades. Instruction progressively evolves from lectures in the classroom to hands-on training on the shop floor to practical experience in the field where closely-supervised students support the Operation Lifeline mission by performing residential repairs for struggling veterans. Program graduates have the skills needed for immediate employment in the high-demand, lucrative construction industry.

Military service is an unparalleled, life-changing experience. While most veterans thrive following service, some struggle to find their path. Not all military career fields translate directly to civilian professions. Alternately, many leaving the service are seeking a change from the work they had been performing in their military specialty.
