Economic stability and independence is only a dream for many women. A dream that the can find a living wage job to support themselves and their families. We hope to help them achieve that dream.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Empower Success Women's Group
This program offers woman to woman mentoring to a growing group of women who meet monthly. A variety of speakers present to the group on a variety of topics. The goal of the group is to provide a safe and supportive adult network for women who are new to the workforce, or who are still looking for work.
Suiting Program
We provide one or multiple work appropriate ensembles for women who are refereed to us.
Career Center/Suiting Boutique
The Dress for Success Career Centers provide DFS clients
with a safety net-and a competitive edge-while searching
for new employment, vying for a promotion, or strategizing
career advancement. Access to the Career Center helps:
• Assist women when searching for a job
• Furnishes individualized mentoring to enhance their
resume and cover letter
• Increase awareness of specialized workshops and
trainings

What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Our Mission
The mission of Dress for Success® is to empower women to achieve economic independence by providing a network of support, professional attire and the development tools to help women thrive in work and in life. Our goal is to provide the tools and confidence needed to compete for and win the limited number of jobs available.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
The programs of Dress for Success Bakersfield have been helping women change their lives for 6 years. We have a robust continuum of services ranging from pre-employment skills training to post-employment support for our clients. Using these tried and true programs, we plan to help even more women here in Kern County.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Because we are affiliate with Dress for Success Worldwide we have access to the best practices of other affiliates all over the world. These programs have proven effective for thousands of women all over the world. We have a Board of Directors consisting of local community Leaders who share this vision. And to date we have served over 3500 local women.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
We have experienced amazing growth and are struggling to keep up with the need for Dress for Success here in Kern County. To date, we have brightened the lives of over 3500 women. Most of whom are referred to us from Welfare to Work and other similar programs. We need further investment from businesses and individuals who share our values.
