Connectree

ConnecTree works with a Mission Pastor in Chiapas, Mexico who ministers to groups of Indigenous Christians who have been ousted from their communities for refusing to renounce their faith in Christ. These people have been persecuted socially, emotionally and physically, suffering at the hands of tribal elders, and sometimes even their own families. Our pastor there, who is a Tzeltal Mayan, works to establish new communities, plant churches, train church leadership and disciple new believers. He also brings basic food, clothing, medical and building supplies to these groups, as often people won't sell to them in the market because they are Christians. A national missionary contact in Mexico City, who is also a nurse, comes alongside this pastor with regular teams and helps raise finances to help with the distribution of much needed goods for these people. There is a project ongoing in Mexico City to develop sustainable agriculture practices and crops that will work to help these communities feed themselves as they receive training and seed to start their own crops. The goal of this program is not only to help these people thrive as they establish new communities, but to see them emboldened to reach out to their persecutors with the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
