What we aim to solve
The problems addressed by Opal's Dream Foundation may be broadly divided into 3 categories: basic needs, life enrichment, and spiritual services. As for basic needs, Opal's provides mobility devices (electric wheelchairs, lift chairs, etc.), dentures - even new limbs. Life enrichment is achieved via entertainment, leisure activity, and recreation. Spiritual services are provided by Opal's Chaplain.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Opal's is dedicated to improving the quality of life among seniors in nursing homes and long-term care facilities. We seek to positively impact the health, vitality, emotional states and social interactions of seniors by providing stimulation, comfort, recreational opportunities, and avenues for spiritual growth.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Our strategies for mission fulfillment may be broadly divided into two categories; providing items (at no cost to the facilities or individuals ), or providing experiences (also provided at no cost). Items such as cotton candy or popcorn machines, TV's, jukeboxes, and games can be a lasting resource for our facilities. Experiential gifts, such as parties, cookouts, and trips - whether to the fishing hole, the state fair, or an afternoon tea - can bring joy and make fond memories for the residents who may otherwise lack adequate stimulation and socialization.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Opal's has well established processes for the evaluation, approval and funding of requests from any qualifying nursing home or long-term care facility in Kentucky or Southern Indiana, and the financial resources to take action. Our organization has built a network of contacts in the long-term care sector, from site administrators to healthcare and social service providers, activities directors and office staff. We also have the volunteers and organizational assets to implement increasingly bold initiatives - whether its taking 40 seniors to the state fair, or distributing 75,000 gifts in a single weekend!
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Opal's has brought hundreds of thousands of Christmas gifts to thousands of seniors, and provided wheelchairs and mobility equipment, parties, trips, personal items and electronics to needy seniors in nursing homes and long-term care across Kentucky and Southern Indiana. We've expanded our reach from one to 99 facilities, improving the sense of community and quality of life for residents.
