Our programs

What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Operation Santa USMC

Operation Santa USMC is an affiliate project of MCFF and is the organization's principal troop support initiative.  Each holiday season, volunteers in communities across the nation gather together to show their support of US Marines and soldiers by creating stockings and stuffing them with a variety of items ranging from news socks to calling cards.  Operation Santa packages have become a tradition for military families, provide much needed supplies to our troops, and are a definite morale booster for the young men and women who spend their holidays serving our country.

Population(s) Served

MCFF ships boxes of sunscreen, Rider Plus sunglasses, and much loved handmade neck coolers to Companies and Battalions of deployed Marines and soldiers during spring and summer months.

Population(s) Served

700,000 children in this country have a parent at war.  New babies are born every day to daddies that are far away serving our country.  It is a sacrifice, and one that military families make every single day.  Operation Marine Corps Kids is an effort designed to support the quiet heroines and littlest heroes of this war.  Care packages are sent to the families of deployed troops when babies are born while the dad is deployed.  The packages may include hand crocheted, knitted, or quilted baby afghans/blankets, bonnets, or booties.  With sufficient resources, we will be able to include a handmade toy for other kids in the family.  It is a small but significant gesture of love and support for those who keep the home fires burning alone.

Population(s) Served

In 2006, a Marine Corps mom had an idea to send Valentine treats to her deployed son.  Her idea extended beyond the usual box of goodies to include new Valentin's Day cards so that the Marines could select a card to send home to a loving wife, girlfriend, mother or child.  It was a hit with the Marines and now MCFF receives many requests from deployed Marines for blank cards.  Every year, Operation Heart to Heart volunteers send handmade or newly purchased cards or stationary to US Marines.

Population(s) Served

Thousands of US Marines are deployed in Afghanistan and overseas.  For many of these young men and women, this will be their first time away from home, and surprisingly enough many of them will not receive mail from home.  Of the many requests our organization receives from troops, letters are the most common.  Operation Letters for Troops provides our Marines with letters of support filled with encouragement, gratitude and possibly humor to help brighten the days of deployment.  Knowing their country is behind them is a huge morale booster and makes their difficult and dangerous job more bearable.  Volunteers young and old participate in this project.  It's a simple and heartfelt way to remind our troops they have not been forgotten.
