Millionair Club Charity
Rebuilding lives, one job at a time.
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Since 1921, we've been working to help rebuild lives through jobs in the greater Puget Sound region. We help those experiencing homelessness, unemployment and underemployment get placed in temporary and permanent jobs, as well as provide the vital support services they need to be successful at work, including meals, showers, laundry, vision care and transitional housing.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Vision Clinic
Thanks to support from the VOSH Foundation and Walman Optical, we provide free eye exams and eyeglasses to those who could not otherwise afford vision care. Last year we helped 570 people get exams and eyeglasses.
Meals Program
Not only does our meals program provide fuel for work, it is open to the entire community - the 3rd largest open community meals program in Seattle. We served over 95,000 meals over the last year to community members in need.
Supportive Employment Program
Since 1921 the Millionair Club Charity has operated a supportive employment program that specializes in helping people who are experiencing homelessness or other barriers to employment to become job ready. The MCC's Temporary Staffing Solutions program connects men and women with employment opportunity at over 1,100 businesses and residences in the greater Seattle area.
Transitional Housing
Dependable access to housing isn't just a crucial component to employment success, it's one of the most basic needs that is often taken for granted by those who don't have to worry about where they will sleep at night. In 2015, we began a lease for the Kasota apartment building in Belltown, just a short walk from our main building. Kasota houses up to 47 of our workers and is a transitional housing program, which means our tenants have two years to work with MCC staff to secure employment and save enough money to find housing on their own. MCC staff works closely with them to build their hard and soft skills for jobs, provides other support services as well and even visits potential apartments with workers.
Shower & Laundry Center
During the 2016-17 fiscal year, we provided over 11,000 showers and loads of laundry to those in need. Access to hygiene services are a vital aspect to people feeling ready and confident for a day of work.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
The focus of MCC's five year strategic plan is to: 1) Create pathways to permanent jobs for our employment program participants - 80% of whom are homeless. 100% of our clients have income under the federal level for poverty. 2) Strengthen our organization's balanced and sustainable financial base. 3) Enhance community awareness of and partnerships with the Millionair Club Charity.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?

What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
The Millionair Club Charity (MCC) operates a supportive employment program that enables people with little or no resources to become "job ready" and connect to employment opportunity.
Supportive Employment Program
A comprehensive array of supportive services -- all in one place -- offer an integrated and expedient pathway for men and women to regain their physical strength, confidence, and gain job-readiness.
Hot Meals
We serve 96,000 meals a year, including a community meals program at our headquarters; sack lunches for workers going out on a job; and a food bank for clients living our transitional housing building.
Shower and Laundry Facilities
We provide a place for clients enrolled in our employment program to do laundry and take a hot shower. As one of the few places in Seattle to offer this important service, we offer more than 3,000 hot showers each year, providing dignity to those who are experiencing homelessness. Workers who are registered in our employment program have access to shower and laundry facilities from 6-10 a.m. on workday mornings.
Eye Care
The Millionair Club Charity's vision clinic provides free glasses and comprehensive eye exams to more than 550 people living in poverty each year to help prepare them for the workforce. The clinic's volunteer opticians and optometrists see patients every Thursday morning from September to June. Eye glass frames are donated from optical supply companies across the region. The eye glasses are manufactured by community partner Walman Optical.
Temporary Staffing Social Enterprise - over 1,100 employers utilize MCC's Temporary Staffing Solutions social enterprise to hire workers for short and long term job assignments. Workers earn paychecks which establish employment history and credit history. Entry level and temporary assignments can turn into permanent jobs with benefits.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Here is the impact we made during the 2016-17 fiscal year thanks to our donors and supporters:
Jobs: 215 individuals were placed in permanent or long-term jobs. 1,112 individuals accomplished 166,263 hours of work. We had 1,516 unique employers, including homeowners and local businesses, hiring our workers for temporary, long-term and permanent jobs.
Housing and shelter: We helped 58 of our workers secure permanent or transitional housing or prevent eviction through our Housing Assistance Program.
Meals: 95,651 hot, nutritious meals were served to people seeking sustenance. We are the third largest meals provider in Seattle, and we also supply a sack lunch to workers going out on a job.
Eye Care: We provided 570 individuals with glasses and eye exams to help prepare them for the workforce.
Shower and laundry center: We provided more than 11,000 showers and loads of laundry through our hygiene facilities so that workers could feel confident and ready for a day of work.
Other wrap-around support services: Working with other organizations throughout the region, we've helped connect our workers to free work-appropriate clothing, free cell phones, reduced-fare bus passes, other work training programs and a variety of other support services.
Volunteers: 799 volunteers gave their time in service of the Millionair Club Charity, totaling over 1,800 hours of service.
Every year we strive to extend our training, access to housing, and other wrap-around services, encourage self-reliance and build a sense of dignity that assist workers to become job ready.
