What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Streamkeeper Academy classes provide the diverse audiences throughout the Pacific NW, young and old, with training on how to protect and enhance fish and wildlife habitat. AASF Fish and Wildlife staff are restoring stream and wetland habitat in urbanizing areas of Washington State. Popular publications, like the "Streamkeepers Field Guide" help volunteers to monitor the ecological health of streams across the U.S. and Canada. A $4.5 million campaign is underway to develop the NW Stream Center as a place to train 60,000 students a year how to become "Streamkeepers."
Streamkeeper Academy
25 adjunct professors recruited from colleges, universities, zoos, aquariums and natural resource agencies assist Adopt A Stream Foundation staff in conducting courses on NW ecology and fish and wildlife found in the Pacific NW. Now we are averaging 3000 students a year of all ages. Most courses are accredited by the Washington Science Teachers Association.
