What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
1) Leadership and Staff training: NWFCO designs, coordinates and plans training programs and sessions in partnership with the senior staff and leaders of affiliated organizations. In addition to its varied leadership-training curriculum, NWFCO has developed an Action Education training component, which uses popular education methods to provide grassroots leaders with expanded analytical skills. 2) Expanding Access to Health Care: A program of research, policy development, staff and leadership training and field support which assists affiliated organizations as they address health care issues such as the conversion of non-profit health entities to for-profits, the failure of non-profit hospitals to provide community benefits, and efforts to expand health coverage for children and their parents through CHIP and Medicaid expansion. Most recently, our work has focused on extending access to health care to uninsured or under-insured families. 3) Income Security through Living Wage Jobs and Access to Public Benefits: A coordinated regional effort being conducted by NWFCO affiliates across the Northwest. Its goals are to organize issue campaigns which focus on securing living wages jobs for low- and moderate-income people, protecting or expanding the benefit programs that are critical to their income security, and ensuring that they have access to those programs.
