aka SOS   |   Seattle, WA   |  www.wildsalmon.org

Mission

Save Our Wild Salmon (SOS) is a nationwide coalition of conservation organizations, commercial and sport fishing associations, businesses, river groups and taxpayer advocates working to restore sustainable, harvestable runs of salmon to the Columbia Basin. Our current mission is to restore abundant, harvestable runs of salmon to the Columbia and Snake River Basins. Wild salmon and free-flowing rives are the cornerstone of a healthy environment and vibrant economy in the pacific northwest.

Save Our Salmon

In 2018, SOS led the fight to defeat anti-salmon legislation in Congress. SOS coordinated a successful multi-partner, multi-pronged campaign to secure two key recommendations by the Government. Inslee's orca task force, including increasing "Spill" at dams on the lower Snake and Columbia and convening a stakeholder forum to develop a Snake River restoration transition plan. SOS has engaged a promising dialogue with several northwest utilities and planned and executed several dozen public events with partners, including a speaker series and film screenings of salmon, orca, and dams.
