Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Appalachian Love
Putting Prayers to Action has reached over 10,200 children with clothing, blessing bags and food for our Easter Program. We have documented; significant improvements in communication and knowledge of our families. We have seen increases in the families in need, and a greater willingness to try to provide to the children. Putting Prayers to Action Programs are expanding to many schools, community centers and churches in the Appalachian Region. Putting Prayers to Action installs a Team Leader in each elementary school or area who implements on-site Putting Prayers to Action Programs and forges community collaborations to help establish an efficient method of reaching the families in need. After the method is determined, a location is designated for distribution, visits to the area to meet the families are done, data bases are made and a one call list is established for the area. Our Appalachian program ranges from 7 days/168 hours to 5 days/120 hours each team member will do visits to the families, help deliver food to families without transportation, interact with the children and each team member will be stationed with a particular set of duties and responsibilities. The team members go to be a blessing, but usually receive a bountiful blessing in learning the principle of serving. Putting Prayers to Action encourages youth leaders and families to participate to build and strengthen good morals and values in the children God has placed in their life. We are currently providing to 1,700 children & their families in the Appalachian Mountain Region. Due to the coal industry, many have lost their jobs and live in third world conditions.

Blessings in a Back Pack Program
In 2014, Putting Prayers to Action began their Blessing in a Back Pack Program to assist hungry children in the Appalachian Mountain Region. Putting Prayers to Action was approached by an elementary school because many of their students were food insecure. Most of the children who attended were on assisted or fully funded lunch programs. After leaving school on Friday afternoon, many of the children would have nothing to each until Monday morning during breakfast at school. Putting Prayers to Action were able to partner with the school to fill each child's backpack with healthy snacks everyday and every Friday we provide food to go home with these children.
Homeless Program
Since 2005, Putting Prayers to Action has been providing to our homeless community. They now provide to four different Homeless Communities. These homeless are the ones living on the streets and within the camps, not in a shelter. Every month, we partner with Homeless ministries that assist us in caring for the food insecure, poor and homeless. Putting Prayers to Action provides them with the needed food, clothing, personal hygiene items, blankets, coats, gloves and sleeping bags. We travel one Sunday a month to assist in the worship service with them. We restock the ministries supplies and provide to the homeless in attendance, usually between 100-200.
Gods Storehouse of Hope & Love Food Bank
Since 2011, Putting Prayers to Action had acted as a local food bank to other ministries, outreaches and families. There are many families who need food to sustain them for the week. Putting Prayers to Action is able to give them a hand up, instead of a handout. We provide food and supplies to ease the hardship they may be going through. Many families fall between the crack of receiving assistance. We are able to assist these families, when other agencies aren't able to assist. Putting Prayers to Action also provides food, personal hygiene items, and supplies to different children's homes, churches, ministries, outreaches, shelters and schools who do not have their own food pantries enabling them to assist their families in need in their communities.
Appalachian Christmas
We have over 2,700 children that we provide Christmas to them and their families. The children receive a new coat, new shoes, new outfit, Blessing Bag and they get to pick out their choice of a Christmas present. The parents receive food and personal hygiene items. The families with babies receive diapers and baby products.
We use a one-call system to stay in touch with our families and alert them of our arrival to their area.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
We envision expansion of Putting Prayers to Action Programs throughout the Eastern & Central Kentucky, Virginia, and West Virginia as well as in districts and communities throughout the poverty stricken areas within the United States.
As of Spring of 2018, we have and are accomplishing the expansion into West Virginia. Our first mission was to assist in providing safe water for the community of O'Toole. This community didn't have proper water for bathing, drinking or for washing dishes and their clothing. With the love of our donors and their love for our Appalachian families, the families now have fresh and clean water.
Our goal will remain to seek those families throughout the Appalachian Region that need our assistance, and with God's guidance, and the donors support, we will try to meet their needs.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Putting Prayers to Action collect data from Family Resource Centers, youth workers and church leaders via surveys, discussions, interviews and observations. We synthesized this data using a system of indicators that determined, based on percentages, our programs success in various poverty stricken areas. Feedback and testimonials from past programs illustrate the power of Putting Prayers to Action programs to transform children's attitude, self-confidence and relationship with God. Our families are located in throughout the Appalachian Regions, we feel consistent collaboration increases attendance and strengthen our relationship with our families. We will strive to increase like minded donors to assist us in our efforts of reaching our families.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Since 2009, our programs has reached approximately 157,248 children in the Central & Eastern Kentucky, Virginia & West Virginia. As volunteers experience opportunities to develop skills in the following areas: leadership, self-confidence and self-respect, trust, sense of responsibility for self, others, the community, critical thinking, teamwork, and decision-making, as well as, made them environmental stewards within their own community. They bring other volunteers to assist us in our efforts.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Putting Prayers to Action has expanded to reach to 3,200 children in Central & Eastern Kentucky, Virginia & West Virginia. Most of these children receive a new outfit underwear, socks, shoes, but the reality is that are demand is much higher the quantity of new clothing we receive. Therefore, some of our children receive gently used outfits. Putting Prayers to Action would like to eventually be able to assist all the children with all brand new clothing.
In 2017, we were able to provide all NEW outfits to each child. Also provided a new toy to each of the children, thanks to the many donors.
