What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?

Prevention & Education

We have a number of age-appropriate presentations (preschool-12th) available to be given at your child’s school. Presentations provide personal safety and sexual violence information as well as resources and skill building. STAR is very careful with the material brought into schools, utilizing information geared to the child’s age and development. All curricula are reviewed and approved by the Anchorage School District.

How we listen

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

Seeking feedback from people served makes programs more responsive and effective. Here’s how this organization is listening.

done We demonstrated a willingness to learn more by reviewing resources about feedback practice.
done We shared information about our current feedback practices.
  • How is your organization collecting feedback from the people you serve?

Electronic surveys (by email, tablet, etc.), Paper surveys,

  • How is your organization using feedback from the people you serve?

To identify and remedy poor client service experiences, To identify bright spots and enhance positive service experiences, To inform the development of new programs/projects, To strengthen relationships with the people we serve,

  • What significant change resulted from feedback?

Because of the confidential nature of what we do, sometimes recognition of staff efforts isn't possible. Recently in feedback received from a client, we were informed of how their life has been saved by one of our staff members. That is about as big as it gets as far as making a difference goes, and we know that there are other clients out there who feel the same but have not been able to communicate it. This particular case was reported to all staff and board of directors and was a bright light in what can be a dark world in which to work.

  • With whom is the organization sharing feedback?

The people we serve, Our staff, Our board, Our funders, Our community partners,

  • What challenges does the organization face when collecting feedback?

It is difficult to get the people we serve to respond to requests for feedback, Staff find it hard to prioritize feedback collection and review due to lack of time,
