Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Alaska Resource Education Teacher Training and Youth Programs
To carry out its mission, Alaska Resource Education (ARE) provides teachers and students with Alaska specific resource kits that consist of a number of training and background videos, government and industry produced mineral inventory data, and the very popular mineral identification set. The curricu7lum provides detailed lessons concerning Alaska's natural resources that incorporate both science and Common Core in the learning process .
ARE coordinates annual teacher training sessions statewide. These sessions benefit the community by encouraging teachers, especially those not specifically trained in the sciences, to build confidence in their ability to guide students in the skill of making informed decisions regarding the management of minerals, energy, and forest resources.
