You don't have to have a lump to have breast cancer
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
No Lump Required
Inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) patients are invited to complete an on-line survey of questions about their IBC experience as well as some health related common data elements. Data is de-identified and made available to researchers studying the disease. This is an IRB approved, PCORI project allowing patients to set their own privacy levels on their de-identified data.
Metastatic IBC Webinar Series
Four educational webinars designed to meet needs of those with metastatic inflammatory breast cancer (IBC). Topics include management of skin metastasis, lymphedema, disability, sexuality issues, & family challenges.
Inflammatory Breast Cancer Biorepository
Since we began in 1994, researchers have indicated a need for blood and tissue samples in order to study and better understand inflammatory breast cancer. In 2005 the Inflammatory Breast Cancer BioBank was founded. Patients donated tissue and blood samples as well as copies of their medical record to the project. As the project grew, it became clear the BioBank needed to be moved to a new location. Arrangements were made with Indiana University's Biobanking program for the samples and associated data to be moved to their location and management. The Inflammatory Breast Cancer Research Foundation is still actively involved in the project but are now working in collaboration with Indiana University staff.
Virtual IBC Support Group
Collaborative program working with Survivingbreastcancer.org to provide a monthly, virtual support group with a professional facilitator. Provides an opportunity for those in active treatment for inflammatory breast cancer (IBC) or those who are post-active treatment to share with one another in a safe environment.
