What we aim to solve

SOURCE: Self-reported by organization

According to the CDC, about 40,000 children are born each year in the US with a congenital heart defect. About 25% of those infants will have a critical CHD that will require surgery or other invasive procedures. While CHD is the most common birth defect, it is also the least funded. Children are often admitted to specialty hospitals located hours or even several states away from home, and a critical CHD diagnosis often requires life-long care with repeated hospitalizations and surgical interventions. This increases the risks associated with prolonged isolation for those impacted by CHD. This isolation can add to the patient and family’s overall stress and further complicate the healing journey.

CHD Tablet Talk Program

The CHD Tablet Talk mission is to keep children with complex CHD, who are experiencing lengthy hospital stays, connected and engaged while they battle their illness.

While many older children have phones that allow them to stay in touch with friends and family back home, or play games on a handheld device, younger children most often do not have these resources. They benefit from the use of a handheld tablet to stay connected, read or play games from the confines of their bed. This is why Faith created CHD Tablet Talk.

CHD Tablet Talk partners with child life specialists, social workers, cardiac pediatric centers, and other community organizations to identify children in need. Through sponsorship tablets are provided to CHD patients to assist in keeping them engaged and connected for as little as $50 per child.

Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

While many older children have phones that allow them to stay in touch with friends and family back home, or play games on a handheld device, younger children most often do not have these resources. They benefit from the use of a handheld tablet to stay connected, read or play games from the confines of their bed. This is why Faith created CHD Tablet Talk.

CHD Tablet Talk provides tangible relief by opening the door for the “little things” that mean so much - a kind word, an interaction, a familiar face, connection, engagement, and the love of others.

CHD Tablet Talk partners with child life specialists, social workers, cardiac pediatric centers, and other community organizations to identify children in need. Through sponsorship tablets are provided to CHD patients to assist in keeping them engaged and connected for as little as $50 per child.

CHD Tablet Talk has been able to partner with hospitals and organizations throughout the country to establish effective referral processes with a quick turn around time and because of generous donors/sponsors has been able to fulfill each eligible referral.
