Mission

Futures of Education. An initiative to fund and support the implementation of educational projects that shape the future of humanity and the planet. In 2019 UNESCO’s Futures of Education initiative aimed to rethink education and shape the future. The initiative catalyzed a global debate on how knowledge, education, and learning must be reimagined in a world of increasing complexity, uncertainty, and precarity. Longitude takes this initiative into the next phase by funding and supporting the implementation of educational projects that shape the future of humanity and the planet. Now we need your help supporting our projects to transform education!

YHS focuses on empowering young people through the TVET approach capacity building, gamification, cross-border teamwork, and (peer-to-peer) mentorship. Charting impact

Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.

The context:
With accelerated climate change, our planet’s fragility is becoming more apparent. Persistent inequalities, social fragmentation, and political extremism are pushing many societies to a point of crisis.

Advances in digital communication, artificial intelligence, and biotechnology have great potential but also raise serious ethical and governance concerns, especially as promises of innovation and technological change have an uneven record of contributing to human flourishing.

The aim:
This initiative aims to mobilize the many rich ways of being and knowing to leverage humanity’s collective intelligence.

The vision:
Knowledge and learning are humanity’s greatest renewable resources for responding to challenges and inventing alternatives. Yet, education does more than respond to a changing world. Education transforms the world.

But we have to put forward principles and commitments to ensure that connected technologies advance our aspirations for inclusive education based on the principles of justice, equity, and respect for human rights.

Data
  • We ask team members to identify racial disparities in their programs and / or portfolios.
  • We employ non-traditional ways of gathering feedback on programs and trainings, which may include interviews, roundtables, and external reviews with/by community stakeholders.
Policies and processes
  • We seek individuals from various race backgrounds for board and executive director/CEO positions within our organization.
  • We help senior leadership understand how to be inclusive leaders with learning approaches that emphasize reflection, iteration, and adaptability.
  • We engage everyone, from the board to staff levels of the organization, in race equity work and ensure that individuals understand their roles in creating culture such that one’s race identity has no influence on how they fare within the organization.
