What we aim to solve
Too many kids lack nurturing homes and a sense of belonging. Many young people make poor decisions related to drugs and violence. These kids often end up in Juvenile Detention Centers feeling broken and hopeless. Kids are always looking for role models to imitate, but many are growing up in relational poverty where they have no good role models to follow.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
71Five Mentors
A one-to-one and group mentoring program, 71Five Mentors is designed to serve 5-18-years-old kids that are deemed to be “at-risk.” Young people are referred to the program primarily by school counselors. Due to difficult situations that are usually beyond the student’s control, these kids are struggling. They are teamed with mentors who share their time, their life experiences and how they handle life’s challenges according to the teachings of Jesus Christ. Mentoring has consistently proven to be an effective means for a young person’s life to be positively changed forever!
71Five Campus
Youth Center Clubs have been an effective method of impacting teens for many years. 71Five Campus combines healthy relationships with creative programs to help young people make good choices, establish a solid foundation for life and positively impact their schools and community. They also provide students with opportunities for friendship, fun and growth through meetings, trips, appointments, small groups and many other programs. These club meetings are generally high-energy and fun, with a discussion and teaching that is very relevant to the issues kids face today. Like every ministry of Youth 71Five Ministries, 71Five Campus seeks to engage these young people wherever they are found as life long followers of Jesus Christ. 71Five Campus encourages a balanced life–mentally, physically, spiritually and socially.
71Five City
The 71Five City is a relational community based ministry that desires to see deep change in an inner-city neighborhood through the raising of local leaders from the young people in that community. 71Five City is an effective ministry model to transform the lives of inner-city youth, their families and the communities that they live in. We want to facilitate strong collaborative relationships with business leaders and inner-city youth and raise up young people into local leaders who serve their communities.
71Five Justice
At 71Five Justice, we reach out to high-risk teens in tough situations. Young people are met in a variety of locations such as detention centers, probation programs, correctional facilities, group homes, residential treatment centers and emergency shelters. Relationships are developed and sustained while kids are locked up and as they re-enter their communities. 71Five Justice staff and volunteers are committed to building relationships that last long after teens have left the juvenile justice system.
71Five Parents
We strive at 71Five Parents to impact pregnant and parenting teens by building relationships, creating community, and affirming self-worth. Teen parents face a unique set of challenges and we seek to empower them through finding their identity in Christ. By supporting, encouraging, and equipping these young moms and dads with the skills they need, they can become successful and healthy adults. 71Five Parents is impacting at least two generations at a time.
71Five Connect
A student burst into my office and said, “ I screw everything up at home… and now I’ve just screwed up again. My dad slaps me around and nobody likes me at school. I can’t do anything right!” Bullying and violence in our schools and communities are at unacceptable levels. Kids are hurting. In a 71Five Connect workshop, students experience a safe environment as they share their stories. They see others facing similar struggles and connect with caring adults. Students walk away from 71Five Connect wanting to show more kindness to others and make their school a better place. They learn they are not alone and there are safe adults they can turn to for guidance.
71Five VoTech
Young people today find themselves in one of the most challenging job markets in the last 100 years. Many youths find although they need and want to work, they lack the skill and training it takes to succeed. 71Five VoTech offers mentoring and vocational training for young men 16 – 24. Participants receive the life-transforming skills they need through the 71Five VoTech initiative.
71Five Camp
At 71Five Camp, it is our desire to create an environment that invites God to transform the lives of young people through shared experiences, outdoor challenges, and times of solitude that draw students to the heart of God within the context of trusting relationships and memorable learning experiences. We have seen thousands of young people’s lives changed during an incredible week at one of our camps. We’re confident that when kids go to 71Five Camp this summer, God will work in their lives. Don’t miss it.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
Youth 71Five Ministries (formerly Rogue Valley YFC) goal is to connect every youth with a healthy authentic adult relationship and share God's story with them.
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
Too many kids lack nurturing homes and a sense of belonging. At our 71Five Campus Youth Centers and 71Five City Community Center, kids find a safe, fun place to relax and caring adults who take the time to know them. 71Five Campus programs provide opportunities to discuss life lessons from a Christ-centered perspective. 71Five City is an effective ministry model to transform the lives of inner-city youth, their families and the neighborhood communities that they live in.\n\nMany young people make poor decisions related to drugs and violence. These kids often end up in Juvenile Detention Centers feeling broken and hopeless. And our 71Five Connect Workshop reaches kids with a powerful resiliency program in local schools. The 71Five Justice and 71Five Connect staff and volunteers offer listening ears and the hope and encouragement found in a relationship with God.\n\nKids are always looking for role models to imitate, but many are growing up in relational poverty where they have no good role models to follow. Our 71Five Justice, 71Five Mentors, 71Five Parents, and 71Five VoTech mentoring programs provide young people with long term trusting relationships with adults that form the foundation for healthy influence.\n\nAlthough we offer fun and helpful programs for kids, our real work is building the relationships necessary for kids to thrive. By providing places where youth feel secure, by delivering a message of real hope, and by being people kids can truly count on, we are seeing lives transformed.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
Youth 71Five Ministries (formerly Rogue Valley YFC) has been effectively serving the community for over 50 years.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
Youth 71Five Ministries reaches over 1200 youth every year. Within the region, many more youth are in need of healthy mentoring relationships.
