What we aim to solve
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Community Nutrition
Our Community Nutrition Program is our largest program and encompasses shopping-style food pantry, food box deliveries, meals, and other food distribution events. Thanks to the extra capacity of our 8000 sq. ft warehouse called the Food Hub, we serve over 10,000 people each month and over 20 other small and mid-sized organizations reaching people of all ages and backgrounds. In an average month, we distribute over 50,000 pounds of food to people in need, primarily but not limited to Clackamas and Multnomah Counties residents.
Clothing and Home Goods
As with our shopping-style food pantry, visitors to our clothing room can "shop" for the clothes and home goods that are right for them and their families, at no cost to them. Visitors can find workwear, casual clothing, shoes, coats, undergarments, kids clothing, small kitchen wares, linens such as towels, sheets, and blankets - and much more! In an average week, over 120 people visit the clothing room. We rely heavily on the generous support of local in-kind donors to supply gently used and new items.
Showers
We believe everyone deserves the dignity of being able to care for their personal hygiene, but for many unhoused people, finding bathing facilities can be a real challenge. Since launching our shower program in 2016, each week, 30-50 people take a hot shower in our portable shower cart. Each person who showers at CSC is provided with a clean towel, washcloth, razor, shampoo, conditioner, and body wash. A clean change of clothes, including socks and underwear, is also available to anyone who wants them.
