Healing the Wounds of War and Occupation in the Middle East
Programs and results
What we aim to solve
The lack of specialized medical care for sick and injured children living in conflict areas of the Middle East prevents many of them from having access to the kind of care that they need to live, in such areas as cancer treatment, open-heart surgery, orthopedic surgery and many more. We have built two pediatric cancer hospitals for sick children in Gaza and Bethlehem to ensure that kids have access to the care they otherwise cannot get, and we also sent 175 volunteer international medical teams to the Middle East in 2019 to provide over 2,400 sick and injured kids free care that they otherwise could not get locally.

Charting impact
Four powerful questions that require reflection about what really matters - results.
What is the organization aiming to accomplish?
To reduce the dependency on outside providers to treat children by training local doctors as well as building up hospital capacity and infrastructure .
What are the organization's key strategies for making this happen?
We have many programs to accomplish our goals. We bring teams of doctors to the Middle East to perform surgical procedures. We bring children to the U.S. and other countries that have hospitals and doctors that are equipped to treat a wide variety of medical conditions and injuries. We also opened the first Pediatric Oncology Department in Bethlehem and in Gaza. We also operate several humanitarian programs providing medicine, wheelchairs, eyeglasses, and other necessary medical devices to children in the Middle East.
What are the organization's capabilities for doing this?
We work with an international network of doctors, staff and volunteers to identify, diagnose and treat thousands of children each year. We also have offices and staff on the ground in the Middle East who are identifying children in need of care and ensuring that they get the treatment they need.
What have they accomplished so far and what's next?
In 2019 we expanded our efforts to create the first Pediatric Oncology and Cardiac Departments in Gaza. These departments will allow children who cannot travel to receive medical closer to home. We also provided over 2,400 sick and injured kids free care that they otherwise would not have access to.
