What we aim to solve
EASM desires to be a place of inspiration, where learning from the past propels deep curiosity and new knowledge resulting in an informed and engaged community where the impossible becomes possible.
Our programs
What are the organization's current programs, how do they measure success, and who do the programs serve?
Education
The Evergreen Aviation & Space Museum inspires students by providing the spark to get kids of all ages interested in the sciences. As an aerospace museum, students are engaged in hands-on activities that teach fun and informative lessons about science, technology, engineering, art, and math (STEAM). Our various programs, tours, and classes offer something for every student!
Each year, around 18,000 K-12 students take part in our STEAM-centered field trips and programs that are aligned with Oregon’s educational standards. Approximately 50% of our students are from Title I schools located in undeserved, rural areas. Virtual programs are also available. During the summer months, we offer two interactive one-week camps--space and aviation--that are filled with exciting educational experiences designed to ignite a passion for innovation and exploration.
Museum Tours
Take a tour and meet the brave men and women who flew our historic planes. Because many of our volunteer docents are veteran pilots, you may even hear a first-hand story from the cockpit. Whether your tour is with an expert volunteer or a veteran pilot, you’ll gain a unique insight into our captivating air and space exhibits. In just over an hour, you’ll see all of the museum highlights from the gargantuan Spruce Goose to the sleek SR-71 Blackbird.
Preservation and Restoration
Restoration of aircraft and other artifacts. This includes assembling, conditioning, cleaning, painting, and repairing aircraft, as well as other mechanical artifacts displayed in our museums. We fabricate items for aircraft and other displays using aluminum, steel, wood, plastics, composites and resin.
